King's Sea 2: Dev Diary 6


Hey folks!

Small update for you today.

I finished adding saving and loading of realms.

I added history tracking and settlement systems (which will be used for fishermen) that are also now used for some fun, additional creatures.

I also cleaned up stuff and updated various bits. Additionally, I added some rarer, fun creatures that sometimes spawn in rivers, lakes, and other areas using the aforementioned "settlement" system which is exciting!

I made it so that continents can also have more fantasy-like names.

You can also get combined names, e.g., like how on Earth we have North America and South America. In Kings Sea II, you can get names like " West Ellysium" and "North Ellysium" and so on kinda like the ones below.

I also added all the sentient creatures from my Roguelegends multiverse (with some tweaks). They will serve as our fishermen when I finish that feature :P. I also added a bait tag to some creatures so they can be used as bait by the fishermen. All in all, things are going absolutely swimmingly, and once I get the fishermen added, I can add my little baby Legends mode (the mode for browsing the bones files that lets you see your previous fish, etc.) and incorporate some more interesting mechanics, since the fishermen addition means I'll have added all the features from Odell Lake

The fishermen is the final item on my Trello before I start adding completely new mechanics like hunger, stamina, and so on (we'll see what form those take, but the idea is simply to make the gameplay more than just Odell Lake).

(I envision a lobster picking up a rock and whacking a fish with it as a thing you can do :P)

I briefly considered releasing what I had for everyone to play right now just so its out here while i work on it, but my inner perfectionist wouldn't let me, lol.
