V1.5 Update Dev Diary and Changelog
Hey folks!
I've now added satiation and starvation as a mechanic that forces you to make smart choices or risk dying of hunger.
It's pretty simple – every action costs 1 satiation by default. Different species can have different max satiation and when your satiation hits 0, you start starving, which leaves you confused, and if your starvation reaches the maximum for your species (which varies), you die of hunger.
Eating most things will fully restore your satiation (Though if it is too small it increases your satiation by only a little.) , while chasing away rivals can boost it a bit, and ignoring usually doesn't cost any satiation at all. The tooltips in the commands explain what each choice means.
Plus, you can choose for each world (Even in already existing realms.) whether the satiation mechanic exists at all, only causes confusion without killing you, or works the default way (confusing and killing).
This means even children who might have trouble with it can disable it completely and still have fun and learn about ecosystems, while others who find it too harsh can adjust it to their liking. While others can keep it on, and even add harder creatures to play as via modding and setting their max satiation to whatever they want.
Also, remember that each species has different satiation amounts.
The game feels, well, like an actual game now. Which is always nice. :D
