NoUtopia Changelog #9 "3D Arcade Asteroids"


Hey folks!

So today was mainly a DR4X dev day. But i do have the changes I made before today to share!

I also updated all the screenshots because they were way out of date.

So the game now feels like a 3d version of the arcade game asteroids with bonus space exploration mechanics.

Changes:

-Changed how asteroid wrapping works when close to sun (this is for gameplay not relaism reasons)

-You get Utopibucks from destroying and breaking asteroids

-Fixed asteroids spawning on top of and therefore killing the player

-New Asteroid and Comet LODS in the same style as the planet ones.

-You can now do barrel rolls with q and e.

-Changed ship thrust to be more consistent

-The planets now have better gravity settings (I also kinda totally reworked how i calculate gravity for game feel reasons and had to tweak a bunch of mass values to make everything work)

-You can now run on planets with shift and jump using space. This is releftected in the space walk UI

--You can also do platformer style wall jumping etc, as a fun bonus

-The "Initium" systems sun flare effect is now always present except when you land on planets where the atmosphere obscures the flare.

-Planets now have differnet gravity from each other just to show off the rgav mechasnics and landing on asteroids feels better (I expect to tweka this every single update until i find something that always feels decent)

-Player ship is now heavier

-Player character is now heavier

-Grvaity is no longer disabled when on ground, insetad the players center of mass is set to their thighs when they are standing (like real life humans) and it pushe sback on the planet with an equal but oppisite force

-Added social media links to main menu

-Standing on top of ship is now considered grounded so you can jump when standing on it :P

-Chanegd everything to be more event based

--This has decreased spaghetti code massively

-Assigned new masses to everything
