Enterable Ships, Gravity Overhaul, and Accidental Climbing!

Welp! I wanted to get a specific thing done today and I pulled it off!

Changes:

  • You will notice I changed the name of the game on Itch.io to make it clear it's a tech demo.
  • I also updated the description.

Now for actual game updates:

  • Slightly tweaked the opening dialogue sequence, reverted a change a friend suggested.
  • Your character now rotates to match gravity, rather than specifically rotating towards the center of the planet when on a planet, etc.
    • This allows old attempted features like gravity panels to work properly now and just makes everything much smoother to control and update with less hard coding.
  • Had to reduce the size of the player so that the enterable ship could be less bulky looking.
    • I also tweaked the proportions of houses, etc., to match this.
  • Player controller no longer reliant on your ship for anything (Player when out of the ship is an entirely independent entity now, so if your ship gets knocked off the planet by an asteroid, you can continue walking around on your planet, and the game even jokes about how you are lost in space now).
  • Accidentally added climbing (Just sprint at a sheer wall for a few seconds and you can start slowly climbing up and it feels pretty great tbh).
  • Ship is now enterable and you can walk around in it (when landed, I'll get space working soon too, but this is just a prototype, heh).

  • New modular red ship model (Wings are separate objects, etc., this will allow for ship damage later).

  • Smoothed out planet navigation and jumping/platforming, etc.
  • More retro design for ship akin to galaga
