Roguelegends: Original
A downloadable game for Windows
"Roguelegends" is this fantasy roguelike I cobbled together when I was about 16, heavily inspired by Dwarf Fortress adventure mode.
Way back in the 2010s, I thought to my little teanager mind, 'Hey, why not make a game?' And thus, this monstrous thing was born. Since the download is still on my website, I figured I’d slap it on here too for posterity. Fun fact: my avatar actually comes from this game.
Can you win? Honestly, I have no idea. You might just reach the end of the dungeon, turn around, and walk back out like, ‘Well, that was a thing.’"
It's got all the classic roguelike stuff, randomly shuffled potions you can identify by drinking (or throwing), Identify scrolls, a mix of handcrafted and procedural dungeons, and a randomly generated overworld (except for your starting area, which is always the same).
Oh, and let's not forget:
- Hell bears.
- Hell turkeys.
- Murderous trees.
- And much, much more.
Peasants getting smited mid-conversation by the god of game dev? Check. Janky controls? Naturally. ASCII graphics? Of course. Becoming a werewolf? Heck yeah. Choking on rocks? Why not?
It's a beautiful mess really.
If you were to compare me to Tarn Adams, this is my weird, unfinished, janky Armok to his Armok . I haven't had my Dwarf Fortress moment yet—but maybe one day.
Compiled list of Controls I remember
e to equip an Item
u to unequip an Item
w to wear
x to examine (click a tile after)
l to look at current tile
shift+L for directional look command
g for grab
k to kick
a for directional attack (This will allow you to attack neutrals and friendlies)
h for Heimlich (if you are choking)
Numpad to move diagonally
1 with numpad off to minecraft yourself.
t to throw
shift+t to talk
p to pickpocket
i for inventory
c for consume (eat)
d for drop
o for list of objectives
q for quaff
s for more in depth statistical information based on your current Circumstances/Diseases
shift+s for skill bonuses
spacebar to skip a turn
page up/page down to go up or down portals and stairways
Arrow keys to move and attack
(And several other commands I dont remember)
Edit/Warning:
After replaying it, I should mention it includes some heavy topics, including suicide though its just a button. I was an edgy/kinda depressed teenager when I made it, and RLDR has that too. So, it is what it is. If that makes you uncomfortable, I don’t blame you. It’s an old, unpolished, unfinished, kinda janky roguelike anyway—there are plenty of better, less edgy games out there to play instead heh, but if you want to play something weird and quirky from the early 2000s, made by a teenager, you can still give it a try!

Another entry in Roguelegends eh? Sweet!
It's actually the original—I made it before RLDR was even a fever dream. (And TBH, this is also a fever dream)
My kind of roguelike!
LOl I forgot to actually upload the zip file.
It is up now. To be fair i was quite distracted.
