Pilgrimage
A downloadable simulation for Windows
Pilgrimage is an in depth ascii based simulation game made in Godot that doesn't take itself too seriously, developed in C# based on the code base of my previous game King's Sea II, in fact it includes King's Sea III as a playable mode.
The goal is to create a detailed world simulator and RPG game with multiple modes, DF Style, where your actions in all modes can affect all other modes and the world at large in a more clear and impactful way then in DF itself.
All the craziness of King's Sea II is possible here and more.
Your Runs Become Canon
It has a Canon Viewer for looking through the history of your generated worlds, generated plants, randomized bestiaries, and very in-depth emergent nonsense. A crayfish can beat a fisherman to death in the world simulation, then later, when you're playing, the ghost of that fisherman can try to catch you as "one last catch." It is completely absurd.
The simulation also continues running while you play, so one fun and unique way to experience this game is to check the Canon Viewer before starting a run and remember a few interesting historical figures. Then, after a few in-game years have passed, you can check the Canon Viewer again to see what they’ve been up to in the meantime.
Your runs directly affect the world’s Canon. Creatures that kill you become historical figures, your own dead characters can return as ghosts in later runs, and you can encounter and even kill existing historical figures yourself, which means you can also get revenge on the creature that killed you in your last playthrough.
Development Goals
This is very different from Dwarf Fortress, where for the longest time much of the broader world simulation did not continue running while you played. Of course, Pilgrimage’s simulation is much more simplistic in some ways and complicated in its own ways. But i plan to eventually hit that level of scope. Wish me luck :3
Pilgrimage is available free from my website. Buying it here for $5 supports continued development and gives you the convenience of keeping it in your itch.io library.
